Vice Rector for Academic Affairs
Prof. Dr. Ece Ceylan Baba earned her bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2004, her master’s degree in Architecture from Yeditepe University in 2006, and her Ph.D. in Architectural Design Problems from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2009. She was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2016 and became a full Professor in 2021. Between 2017 and 2024, she served as the Head of the Department and the Chair of the Department of Architecture at Yeditepe University. In 2019, she founded the Ph.D. Program in Architectural Studies. Since 2021, she has been the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and as of 2024, she has been serving as the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs. She teaches in undergraduate and graduate programs while continuing her research, publications, and architectural projects.
Her academic interests include architectural utopias and dystopias, high-rise buildings, globalization and cities, user participation in architecture, environmental psychology, housing typologies, and the concept of lofts. In addition to her research articles, she has published four books: Utopias (2025), Architectural Utopias in Search of an Ideal City (2020), Loft: Loft Architecture During the Transition from Modernism to Postmodernism and Its Reflections in Istanbul (2015), and Design Democracy and Istanbul (2010). She has served as a founding member and jury member in numerous national and international architectural and design competitions. Her work in ceramics and porcelain tiles has earned her prestigious awards, including the Red Dot Design Awards, IF Design Awards, A’ Design Awards, and Xone Awards. She is a founding member of Ortak Akıl-Antakya, a civil and independent platform established to support the reconstruction of Antakya, heavily affected by the 2023 earthquake. She actively contributes to various professional and civil society organizations. Since 2020, she has been a Consultant for the Aura Istanbul Education Commission, and since 2015, she has served as a Board Member of Turkey IMSAD.
Vice Rector for Research, Development, and Innovation
Prof. Dr. Oğuz Bayat graduated from Istanbul Technical University’s Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2000. He completed his master’s degree at the University of Hartford in 2002 and his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University in 2006. In 2009, he obtained an advanced management and leadership diploma from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received the titles of Associate Professor in 2014 and Professor in 2019. Bayat began his academic career as a lecturer at the University of Hartford and later joined the Communications and Digital Signal Processing Research Center at Northeastern University in 2002.
Between 2005 and 2011, he served as a technical leader/manager at Airvana Inc. in Boston, working on Nortel/Ericsson projects and contributing to the research and development processes of macrocell and femtocell products. From 2011 to 2022, he held key positions at Altınbaş University, including Founding Director of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and Rector’s Advisor. In 2024, he was appointed as the Vice Rector for Research, Development, and Innovation at Yeditepe University. Bayat's academic research focuses on wireless communication, digital signal processing, artificial intelligence, blockchain applications, and big data. He has made significant contributions to these fields through patents and publications. Additionally, he has worked as a partner and consultant for global companies such as Qualcomm and Mitsubishi Electric Innovation Center, contributing to innovative international projects.
Prof. Dr. Aylin Yaba Uçar received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Akdeniz University in 2002. She completed her Master’s degree in Reproductive Biology in 2004 at the Department of Histology and Embryology, Faculty of Medicine, Akdeniz University, and earned her PhD in Histology and Embryology from the same department in 2011.
Between 2004 and 2006, she served as a researcher at the Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Reproductive Sciences. In 2008, she completed the Ministry of Health Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) Clinical Practice Certification Program.
She was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2017 and promoted to Full Professor in 2023. In 2026, she was appointed Vice Rector responsible for Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning at Yeditepe University. Her academic work primarily focuses on reproductive biology and infertility, and she is actively involved in leading and participates in nationally and internationally funded research projects.
