Innovative Ideas Receive Awards at Yeditepe

This year’s 2nd "7 Tepe Innovative Ideas Competition" organized the Yeditepe University Technology Transfer Office in the scope of university- business world cooperation concept was finalized yesterday at the award ceremony held at the İnan Kıraç conference hall.

Speaking at the ceremony importance of research and patent, Bedrettin Dalan, Founder and Honorary President of Yeditepe University, talked about the Yeditepe University’s achievements in this regard.

"Your Ideas Are Valuable to Us"

Yeditepe University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tülay Baran also pointed out that the "7 Tepe Innovative Ideas Competition" is one of the events that excites her the most and added that the challenging process of creating great ideas is valuable to the world of science and humanity. Baran said that they are looking at this competition from this point of view and continued: "Every idea and every idea owner who comes out here is very valuable for us. What is important is that they have shared with us what they have created".

"Our university is ambitious in patent numbers"

Giving information about the technology transfer office, the Director of Technology Transfer Office Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Topaloglu also pointed out how Yeditepe places emphasis on research. Expressing that the foundations of the Technology Transfer Office were laid in 2006 and that the name was taken in 2015, Topaloğlu said:

"The number of nationally funded project applications at our university is 920. Of these, 280 are completed and 70 are ongoing projects. Out of the 920 projects, 350 of them were supported. This number is above the average in Turkey. The number of internationally funded project applications is 50. The international projects we have completed are 30 and the ongoing projects are two. We also want to them to increase. Our university is also very ambitious in patent numbers. Our national patent application number is 67, we already have 27 patented projects. We have also 147 international patent applications, of which 37 have received international patent certificates. We participated in this year's International Patent Fair with 9 patent ideas. Nine of the 9 project ideas were received awards."

9 Student Presented their Projects

Nine  finalist students presented their projects to the jury composed of Inventram CEO Cem Soysal, TEB Girişim Evi Manager Tahsin Bora Nemlioğlu, Labx Founder Partner and General Manager Fuat Sami, Workinton Founder Partner Gökhan Beydoğan, Sinter Metal Chairman Olgun Tanberk, and Yeditepe University Faculty of Commercial Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ömer Gökay.

Following the presentations, Computer Engineering Department of Engineering Faculty students Dilan Fatma İlkarlık, Kemal Doruk Yıldız and Mert Kurt were awarded first prize with their projects named "Crystall Ball", Business Administration Phd student Alper Göknar won second prize with the project " Earthquake Warning and Post-Earthquake Communication System", Faculty of Communication, Advertising Design and Communication Department student Mert Ulutaş won third prize with his project named "Automatic Towel Service and Tracking System". Gizem Ayan, a double major student in the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering of the Faculty of Pharmacy, won the jury special award for the project "Pharm App Medicine Tracking Application”.
