Yeditepe University Shows Fidelity to Kayışdağı Neighbourhood
University students came together again with the residents of Kayisdağı Neighbourhood who were interviewed and photographed 13 years ago. They documented the “before and after” with photographs.
The "Four Seasons at Kayışdağı: The Re-visit" exhibition coordinated by Yeditepe University Faculty of Communications Journalism Department, opened on May 7th. The opening of the exhibition, which was created by photographing and re-interviewing the residents of the Kayisdağı Neighborhood (located next to the university) 13 years ago, was held together with the residents of the photographed neighborhood.
Within the scope of the project titled "Four Seasons at Kayışdağı" made by instructor Kayıhan Güven and Dr. Kader Tuğla Saltuk under their coordination in 2005, interviews were made with the residents of Kayışdağı Neighborhood and daily lives and future plans were discussed.
Students from the Journalism Department of the Communication Faculty of Yeditepe University came together in the leadership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Feryade Tokan Şenol and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahu Alpaslan, Project Coordinator instructor Dr. İlknur Kalay and Visual Director Kenan Kaya. Students contacted neighborhood residents interviewed on the first project, revealing the changes over the years. Face-to-face interviews were photographed and interviews were recorded in their own handwritings. Information was also gathered on the participants who could not be reached.
The Opening was Made with Neighborhood Residents
The opening of the exhibition, which consists of the collected information and photographs, was held in the Rectorate Building of Yeditepe University together with the names interviewed and photographed after 13 years. The opening ribbon was cut by Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Aydin and Kayışdağı Neighborhood Local Authority Kadir Yılmaz. At the opening, residents of the neighborhood were placated for their participation.
The exhibition will be open for visit at the Rectorate Building for a week.
