Yeditepe University Joins Turkish Impact Council

With United Nations (UN) being one of its Founding Partners, IMPACT 2030 establishes Impact Councils in world’s critical locations. Turkey is among one of the first seven countries in which an Impact Council is established. Impact Councils are platforms which brings private industry, academia, public industry, the UN and non-government organizations.

Regional Impact Councils aim to create a meaningful and measurable effect collectively by choosing one of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations. Turkish Impact Council has chosen the fifth global goal, Gender Equality. Maintaining gender equality and empowering women and girl children throughout the nation is really difficult for one industry or institution. Yet, with collaboration between industries and sectors, with private industry – academia partnerships and with employee volunteering, a solution can be achieved. Because when institutions collaborate their employees’ skills, experiences and creativity for kindness, they can change the world.

Yediepe University has joined among the ranks of Turkish Impact Council under the leadership of Assc. Prof. Can Tansel Kaya, from our Department of Business Administration, thanks to the successful efforts about social impact and sustainability. Being among one of the greenest universities in the world and ranking in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2020 World Universities Impact Rankings, Yeditepe University has taken its place as the representative of academia in Turkish Impact Council.
