Yeditepe University was included for the first time in the rankings of "Best Universities 2018 in Emerging Economies" by London-based higher education magazine Times Higher Education (THE).
In the year 2018, 350 universities from 42 countries in four continents took place in the rankings. Peking University in China was ranked first, where universities were evaluated in five categories: learning environment, research, research effect, international recognition and industry income.
There are seven universities from China in the top 10, followed by Russia, Taiwan and South Africa with each including one university.
22 Turkish universities entered the ranking this year while there were 16 universities last year. Hacettepe University moved 24 ranks up to the 140th place.
Koç University was ranked 16th in the 2018, followed by Sabancı University at 18th place. Bilkent University, Boğaziçi University, Istanbul Technical University and Middle East Technical are ranked later. Yeditepe University, Akdeniz University, Gebze Technical, Marmara University, Dokuz Eylül University and 19 Mayıs University entered the list for the first time.
