Yeditepe University Confucius Institute Opened

Yeditepe University opened the 4th Confucius Institute in Turkey with the participation of YU Hongyang, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, and Bedrettin Dalan, Founder and Honorary President of Yeditepe University

The opening ceremony of the Yeditepe University Confucius Institute was held on Wednesday, September 27 at the Faculty of Fine Arts Conference Hall.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Bedrettin Dalan, Founder and Honorary President of Yeditepe University, stated that scientific studies carried out today show us that everything including people, animals, plants and inanimate people act as a whole. He added:

“In reality, we are all one. In 500 B.C., Confucius tried to tell this. Then there was no Big Bang. But Confucius was aware of this: We are one. We have to live in peace and understand each other. We should not fight, but share love. To share love, we must to talk, understand each other... The main way to understand each other is to learn our languages from each other. Unfortunately, Confucius is still not understood after 2500 years. I hope that one day he will be understood and the world will attain of brotherhood, happiness, peace, love and trust in the true sense. We sincerely hope that Confucius’ understanding of peace and brotherhood will spread the all over the world. "

"Cooperation Will Increase"
Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl also reminded that Yeditepe University has been teaching Chinese since 2008 and said that the cooperation between the two countries' universities has been gaining strength for 10 years. Expressing that the opening of the Confucius Institute is an attempt to crown these efforts, Bingöl said, "Confucius Institutes are very important centers that increase the cooperation of universities, students and societies in both countries. As the two societies that formed the Silk Road for years, we hope to continue strengthening these relations."

"Wisemen walk in the same direction"
YU Hongyang, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, expressed happiness that the fourth Confucius Institute of Turkey opened at Yeditepe University, which educates young people who are open to development, innovation and secularism based on Atatürk's principles. YU Hongyang said "The countries on both sides of the Asian continent, China and Turkey, are continuing their friendship and cooperation which started with the Silk Road."

Prof. Dr. YANG Kexin, Vice Rector of Nankai University, said that the foundation of Confucius Institute will be a bridge for education, culture, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Consul General of the People's Republic of China, QIAN Bo, also read a message of congratulation sent by HANBAN.

At the opening ceremony Bedrettin Dalan, Founding and Honorary President of Yeditepe University, gave a plaque of thanks to the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, YU Hongyang, and QIAN Bo, the Consul General of the People's Republic of China. The exhibition "Friendship Connected by the Silk Road" was also visited by all in attendance.
