Yeditepe University joined the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN), where the world's top 90 universities in sustainability studies are represented.

Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl stated that the university, a leading organization in many subjects, has also adopted the goal of leading the society in environmental awareness and sustainability issues. She continued as follows:

"According to the 2017 assessment of UI Greenmetric, which is acknowledged as the first and only rating agency in the world in terms of sustainability in universities, our university ranks first place among private universities in Turkey. We have been taking measures in terms of a 'Sustainable Environmental Policy. Yeditepe University has identified the main categories of sustainability practices to create a sustainable campus life as campus settlement and infrastructure, energy and climate change, wastes, water resources, transportation and education. Our university, which provides 10 percent of its energy output through alternative solar panels on campus, has a green campus area with 183 plant species and a total of 2,332 trees."

"We are delighted to welcome Yeditepe University to the ISCN, and we look forward to creating a platform for international value sharing and campus sustainability," said Bernd Kasemir, ISCN Executive Board Secretary.

The International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN) provides a world-class forum for ideas and information exchange with the world's leading colleges, universities, and corporate campuses, finding the best practices for a sustainable campus and integrating sustainability into research and teaching.

In 2009, the ISCN partnered with the Global University Leaders Forum (GULF), a World Economic Forum initiative bringing together the heads of 26 top global universities, to develop the Sustainable Campus Charter, which organizes campus sustainability into 3 core principles, requires a commitment at the highest level of the institution, and includes annual reporting on sustainability goals, initiatives, and performance.

To date, over 90 Members (status 2018) represent top-tier colleges and universities from over 30 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.
