Yeditepe Becomes the Only Turkish Invitee for the Annual Meeting of American Association of Law Schools (AALS)

The 111th annual meeting of American Association of Law Schools (AALS) which embodies more than 300 Law Faculties in the States, has been held in San Francisco. Prof. Dr. Haluk Kabaalioğlu, Dean of Yeditepe University Faculty of Law, and Head of European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) in 2013/2014, was the only guest speaker academic in the meeting.   

In the panel of speakers, together with Prof. Kabaalioğlu, there were Prof. Leo Martinez, AALS former president and former Dean of Hastings Law Faculty at California;  Prof. Manuel Angel Bermejo Castrillo, Former Dean of Madrid Carlos III University Law Faculty;  Prof. José María de Dios Marcer, former Dean of Barcelona University Law Faculty; Prof. Laurence Gormley, European Law Professor at Gronningen University Law Faculty;  Věra Kalvodová, Vice Dean of  Law Faculty at Bruno Masaryk University; and   Prof. Karsten Thorn, Head of Civil Law Department at Bucerius University Law Faculty.

Prof. Dr. Kabaalioğlu previously gave 4 different speeches in the annual meeting held in 1-5 January 2015 in Washington D.C. As the President of ELFA- European Law Faculties Association, he also addressed to over 500 participants, and invited them to 20th ELFA General Assembly and Conference which was held at Yeditepe University in 16-19 April, 2015.  

Prof. Dr. Haluk Kabaalioğlu, also gave a talk in the AALS Annual Meeting panel about “International Level Collaboration Models between Law Faculties” which was held in New York in 6-10 January, 2016.  A senior official from AALS explained the reason why the Dean of Law Faculty at Yeditepe University was invited to 2016 meeting as the collaborative and comprehensive structure of the faculty which was impossible to ignore. In saying so, the official gave the credit to Prof. Kabaalioğlu, whose identity has always been reflected on the institutions he has worked for.

Holding a pioneering role among the European Law Faculties with its over 100 Erasmus agreements, Yeditepe University Faculty of Law accepts approximately 95 foreign Law students every year. Apart from Europe, the faculty also has agreements with law faculties in other countries especially USA, China, and Russia, and receives attention from collaboration firms and international academic world of Law , with its annual international meetings that host at least 100  participants each year.
