Yalım Eralp: Turkey is a regional power

Former Ambassador Yalım Eralp was Yeditepe University’s guest within the scope of "English Political Science and International Relations Talks Series-1".

Yalım Eralp started by saying that Yeditepe University had a "magnificent" campus at the talk organized by English Political Science and International Relations Head of the Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Bilgen Sütçüoğlu, Faculty Instructors Assist. Prof. Dr. Selin Türkeş Kılıç, Assist. Prof. Dr. Gizem Alioğlu Çakmak and Ph.D. Student Nurdan Güven.

In his speech entitled "Turkey: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow", Yalım Eralp stated that Turkey is a regional power. Indicating that Geography, history, culture, religion and international developments have an effect on a country’s foreign policy, Yalım Eralp said these four elements marked Turkey's domestic and foreign policy. Bearing in mind that foreign policy is the continuation of domestic policy of a country, Yalım Eralp stressed that foreign policy would not accept mistakes. Pointing out the impact of religioun and culture on foreign policy, Yalım Eralp said that this not only applies to Turkey but also for the Christians.
