For the first time among pharmacy faculties at foundation universities, Yeditepe University Faculty of Pharmacy has received “Full Accreditation” for 6 years by the National Board of Pharmacy Training and Accreditation (ECZAK) and the Association of Assessing Pharmacy Training Programs and Accreditation (ECZAKDER).
The ECZAK Accreditation certificate was given at a ceremony at Yeditepe University. Yeditepe University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet T. İnce, National Board of Pharmacy Training and Accreditation (ECZAK) chairman Prof. Dr. Sevim Rollas, ECZAK General Secretary Prof. Dr. Belma Koçer Gümüşel, Turkish Pharmacist's Association Vice Chairman R.Ph Sinan Usta, Istanbul Chamber of Pharmacists Member of Board R.Ph Zehra Zeynep Ayna, Faculty of Pharmacy Deans from İstanbul, Marmara, Acıbadem Biruni, and Kemerburgaz University, Pharmaceutical Industry Employer's Union – Public and Academic Affairs Coordinator Dr. R.Ph Vedat Eğilmez, Zadevital Member of Board Dr. Mevlüt Büyükhelvacıgil, academic members and students participated in the ceremony.
Talking about the faculty's accreditation process, Yeditepe University Faculty of Pharmacy Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Hande Sipahi talked about their achievements during accreditation inspections and pointed out that the first accreditation application was done in 2014 under the supervision of former dean Prof. Dr. Hülya Akgün.
After having given information about the history of quality insurance accreditation in tertiary education in Turkey, Prof. Dr. Sevim Rollas, the head of ECZAK, expressed her gratitude towards Yeditepe University Faculty of Pharmacy.
Prof. Dr. Meriç Köksal Akkoç, the Deputy Dean of Yeditepe University Faculty of Pharmacy, thanked to academics and staff at Faculty of Pharmacy for their committed work during the accreditation process. The deputy dean also emphasized that with the gained accreditation, it is proven that the academic program has certain performance standards and the quality aspects are under insurance.
Prof. Dr. Akkoç said “As the first foundation university Faculty of Pharmacy to receive full accreditation from ECZAK, from today on, we have started the quality process and directed our quality standards to perfection."
Prof. Dr. Ahmet T. İnce, Vice Rector at Yeditepe University, stated that in the system of quality insurance, the certificates are mandatory, but the accreditations are at the institution's will. He asserted that, with the gained accreditations, the quality of Yeditepe University has been proven.
After the speeches, ECZAK Chairman Prof. Dr. Sevim Rollas and ECZAK General Secretary Prof. Dr. Belma Koçer Gümüşel presented the certificate to Faculty of Pharmacy Deputy Dean Meriç Köksal and former dean Prof. Dr. Hülya Akgün.
