In her collection “Abandoned”, Özlem Mutaf Büyükarman makes use of clothes, packaging, tags, photos and found objects that carry traces of our daily lives and our identities. She integrates some of these directly into her art, and transforms some others, offering a space of confrontation for viewers.

The mundane and spontaneous nature of these objects are also indicators of the internal conflicts and tensions that they witness, as well as the emotional attachment, the psychological and physical violence, the happiness and sadness and the yearnings. The exhausting ambiguity of today’s world is thus reflected through the objects.

Özlem Mutaf Büyükarman, who teaches in the Graphic Design Department of Yeditepe University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, has received many awards for her work, which has appeared in many international fairs. Her work her been exhibited in İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Antalya, New York, London, San Francisco, Texas, Florida and Brussels.
