The Chairman of YÖK (the council of higher education), Saraç came together with woman members of YÖK and woman chancellors
Due to 8th March, International Women’s Day, the chairman of YÖK, Prof. Dr. Saraç came together with woman members of YÖK general assembly and 16 woman chancellors who work for the state and foundation universities in Turkey for breakfast. The chancellor of our university Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl also attended the invitation of the chairman of YÖK, Prof. Dr. Saraç.
The chairman of YÖK, Saraç stated ‘ We have put our signature under important initials and innovations at YÖK for more than one year. One of these initials is that we organized a workshop one year ago and we took some decisions related with this issue. We circulated them to our universities and a series of actions were started in order to create awareness for the phenomenon of women in our universities and they are being carried on.’
Prof. Dr. Saraç also emphasized that there would be attempts to increase the number of women directors who work as chancellors, deans and head of departments in higher education institutions in the forthcoming period.
