"Artificial Intelligence Study Group" Founded at Yeditepe University

The Yeditepe University Artificial Intelligence Study Group will provide "Artificial Intelligence" courses that are open to all students' participation, while focusing on the dissemination of scientific studies in this area.

As technology, artificial intelligence and quantum computers develop, we evolve into a new world design. Even though it may seem strange that humanoid robots talk, listen, debate, learn, and share the predictions of the world, it does not seem a distant future for them to become a part of our daily lives.

With 64 undergraduate programs from 13 faculties and 122 graduate programs from 5 graduate schools, Yeditepe University continues to take new steps with the goal of bringing future professions to students. The interdisciplinary "Artificial Intelligence Study Group" established by the university is one of the works in this scope. Headed by Department of Computer Engineering instructor Prof. Dr. Emin Erkan Korkmaz, the Artificial Intelligence Study Group consists of Prof. Dr. Avadis Simon Hacınlıyan from the Physics Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ece Ceylan Baba from the Department of Architecture, Assist. Prof. Dr. Serkan Şener from the Turkish Language and Literature Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Dionysis Goluaras and Assist. Prof. Dr. Funda Yıldırım from the Department of Computer Engineering. The Artificial Intelligence Study Group, which will focus on the dissemination of scientific studies on artificial intelligence, plans to organize various symposiums, panels and workshops on this subject.

Artificial Intelligence Course

An "Artificial Intelligence Interdisciplinary Studies" course by the Rectorate will be open to the participation of all undergraduate students as of the 2018-2019 academic year at Yeditepe University. Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl said, "We will provide Artificial Intelligence courses parallel with the innovations of our age as a rectorate course open to all of our students."

The Future Lies in These Professions

Pointing out that in addition to artificial intelligence, which is one of the most important fields that will shape the future, materials science, nanotechnology, biotechnology and food engineering are fields very open to development, Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl said

"In the new world design, areas such as large data analysis, information systems, e-commerce, and industrial design will also expand. Parallel to technology, social and administrative sciences will also have to develop alternatives to make life more practical. For this reason, with developments of new forms of communication and organization, we can expect big breakthroughs in the fields of social sciences and administrative sciences in the coming years."
