As part of this approach, all graduates of our university receive the Europass Diploma Supplement in addition to their official diploma.
Commonly referred to as the “Blue Diploma” in public discourse, this document serves as a crucial academic reference that facilitates graduates’ access to national and international education and career opportunities in a more transparent and effective manner.
What is the Europass Diploma Supplement?
The Europass Diploma Supplement is a standardized document developed by the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO within the scope of the Bologna Process.
It is valid across all countries participating in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
The Diploma Supplement includes the following information:
• The student’s program of study
• Courses taken and their content
• The grading system
• Acquired qualifications
• The level and content of the education
This document is prepared in English. It does not replace the original diploma but complements it by making the qualification more transparent and understandable at the international level.
Bologna Process and Turkey’s Participation
Launched in 1999 with the signatures of 29 countries, the Bologna Process aims to harmonize higher education systems across Europe, enhance quality assurance, and improve academic recognition across countries.
Turkey joined this process in 2001, and since 2005, the Europass Diploma Supplement has been promoted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Turkish universities have aligned their systems with European higher education standards, enabling mechanisms that enhance student mobility.

The Europass Diploma Supplement is valid in over 40 countries that are members of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), including Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia.
In addition, it is also recognized as an academic document in some non-European countries, such as the United States and Canada, and is taken into account in equivalency procedures.
