Academic Award Ceremony

Academicians were awarded at the fifth traditional "Academic Award" ceremony held by Yeditepe University for the scientific studies they conducted during this year.

Yeditepe University's Founder and Honorary President Bedrettin Dalan, Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingol, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Tülay Baran and Prof.Dr. Ahmet İnce, as well as faculty deans, academicians and university administrative staff participated in the ceremony where scientific achievements by a university’s most important members were awarded.

“Our Greatest Difference Is That We Are a Big Family”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Bedrettin Dalan, Founder and Honorary President of Yeditepe University, said: "Our greatest difference from other universities is that we are a big family". He continued:

"We all have a strong bond with this university, we owned it, not just me, but we all lifted this university up. In a short time, will be a well-known university, not only in Turkey, but in the whole world. We prepared ourselves in 2017 and we enter 2018 as the year of 'a great Yeditepe in the world”. We will carry this pride together in 2018."

"A Difficult but Successful Year"

Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl also stated that the ceremony was a ceremony crowned with scientific achievements. She contintues:

"We are leaving 2017 behind. It was a very challenging, energetic year for all of us, but a year full of successes. We graduated about 3 thousand students this year, while 4 thousand students (together with the postgraduate ones) joined us. Now we have started their education. Besides, we did a lot of scientific research. We have about 130 scientific publications this year. In this regard, we are among the top 10 foundation universities. When we look at all our publications, we are among the top five universities with more than 4,000 publications and we are in the first three among foundation universities when we look at the percentage of all the researches produce. I hope that our publications will continue to grow in number."

Founder and Honorary President Bedrettin Dalan, who came to give their Professorship certificates to academicians, told of an event that happened when he went to Germany in 1962 and explained the importance of academic achievement. He turned to the faculty members who received the Professorship certificates said “And now I bow before these scientists”.

Afterwards, Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl gave certificates of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Tülay Baran, Prof. Dr. Ahmet İnce, prof. Dr. Fikrettin Şahin, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çulha, prof. Dr. Metin Turan, Assoc. Prof. Meltem Kanoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Aziz Tuğrul Tanyol for their academic and scientific contributions to the university and the scientific community.

Colorful Stage Performances

After the ceremony, New Year’s celebrations were the scene of colorful images. The Yeditepe University World Music Group gave the New Year’s concerts under the direction of General Art Director and conductor Seher Çelik and the Istanbul Flute Society.
