WORLD’S LEADING STEM CELL EXPERTS MEET IN ANTALYA.
Second International Congress on Stem Cell and Cellular Therapies organised by Stem Cell and Cellular Therapies Foundation is being held in Antalya between 15-18 October.
The Congress which is held under the co-presidency of Prof.Dr. Fikrettin Şahin, Head of the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering from Yeditepe University shall bring the pioneers of stem cell researh together from the world and Turkey and sessions will focus on the most recent findings on stem cell research, basic and clinical trials conducted in the world and in Turkey. Prof.Dr. Şahin will fullfil this duty with Prof.Dr. Kürşad Türksen from Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.
At the first Congress which was held betwwen 20-23 March 2014 at Green Park, Kartepe Resort &Spa, Kocaeli, there were more than eighty speakers who adressed on scientific research on different types of stem cells, neurodegenerative and cardiovascular illnesses treated with stem cell, Plastic Surgery and Orthopedy, Immunotheraphy and Dentistry.
At the second Congress to be held this year, there will be the pioneers of stem cell research, panel discussions, meet the expert platforms and oral/poster presentations. The sessions will focus on the most recent scientific findings in the area of Personalized and Regenerative Medicine, Clinical Trials on Stem Cell Research, Stem Cells and Cellular Products, Cellular Reprogramming and Recent Trends in IPS Cell Research, Model Organisms in Stem Cell Research and the Ethical Issues in the field.
The opening speech of the Congress will be made by Sir John B. Gordon (University of Cambridge, Wellcome Trust/cruk Gurdon Instıtute, England) who received a Nobel Prize with his stem cell research in 2012 and the closing speech will be made by Mahendra Rao, the CEO and founder of LLC and the executive director of Regenerative Medicine (NIN) of the World Health Organisation since 2011.
There will be more than 50 invited speakers in total as pioneers of stem cell research and cellular therapies from 10 different countries 26 of whom are international speakers. The Congress will focus on ‘Clinical Trials in Turkey’ which will be conducted with the support of Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) and eight Turkish scientists will give information about their research as TUBA members.
Cellular Therapies and Regenerative Medicine Society shall be addressing cellular therapies applied in Turkey at a special session and the work done in this field will be shared with the participants.
Prof Dr. Fikrettin Şahin, co-chair of the Congress and Prof. Dr. Erdal Karaöz, chair of Stem Cell and Cellular Therapies Foundation invite all scientific researchers and clinicians who are interested in stem cell research and cellular therapies applications in order to review the speeches of Sir John Gurdow who received a Nobel Prize and other world-famous scientits concerning their research and to determine the current situation of Turkey in this field.
