Yeditepe University Supports Secondary Schools

Yeditepe University Faculty of Education and Ataşehir Celal Yardımcı Secondary School signed a new protocol covering the university’s teacher candidates and middle school students.

Under the guidance and supervision of secondary school branch teachers and university lecturers, Celal Yardımcı Secondary School students will take lessons in "Elective Mathematics", "Elective English" and "Elective Writing" courses from teacher candidates studying at Yeditepe University. In this framework, while teacher candidates will gain experience teaching before their compulsory internships, students will have the opportunity to meet Yeditepe University culture.

The protocol was signed by Yeditepe University Faculty of Education within the scope of its "Cooperation in Education" program implemented by the Atasehir District National Education Directorate in affiliated schools as of April 2017. Within the context of the protocol, a group will be formed on the basis of volunteerism among the students from the departments of "Mathematics", "English", "Turkish Language and Literature" and "Computer and Instructional Technology" teaching. Under the supervision and guidance of prospective teachers, academicians and branch teachers in the school, various activities for students within the scope of the course will be carried out. The two-year protocol will be renewed if the parties wish to continue working. The preparations for the program which will start for students in 2017-2018 are going on. Apart from Celal Yardımcı Secondary School, Yeditepe University will carry out similar work with many other schools in the district of Atasehir. The program will also provide in-service training in the direction of teachers' needs and demands.

Following the protocol signed between Yeditepe University and Celal Yardımcı Secondary School, Founder and Honorary President of Istek Foundation Bedrettin Dalan, Dean of Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ayşe Semra Akyel, Ataşehir District Education Director Ertuğrul Bilican, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Education Asst. Prof. Dr. Hulya Kılıç, Private Bureau Personnel Gulcan İzci and Celal Yardımcı Secondary School Deputy Manager Sadık Çoban came together at lunch.
