Primary School Children in Kayışdağı Meet American Students in the “Global Classroom”

Primary school children in Kayışdağı attended a video-conference with students from Nebraska-Lincoln University as part of the Global Classroom project carried out by the Public Relations and Publicity Department of our University. Each week, Public Relations and Publicity students from Yeditepe University meet American students through video-conference to do presentations, exchange ideas and information. They take part in the joint virtual lectures by Dr. Charles Braithwaite, convening the Intercultural Communication course at Nebraska-Lincoln University and Prof. Ayseli Usluata, from Yeditepe University Public Relations and Publicity Department, teaching the Intercultural/Global Communication course, as part of the Global Classroom project.

Yeditepe students organized a special event for primary students in Kayışdağı for 23rd of April, National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. Children saw American students on the screen and showered them with questions. They sang 23 April songs and songs in English for them, followed by dance shows. The primary school students were curious about the US national anthem. They heard the national anthem of the US from Nebraska-Lincoln students and sang our anthem for them.
