Young Communicators Unite Around Sports and Environmental Awareness Projects

Yeditepe University has launched a comprehensive collaboration with the International Arena AquaChallenge Open Water Swimming Championships, an organization that has hosted open-water swimming events across Türkiye for 11 years. This partnership will enable young people to gain hands-on experience in communication while also contributing to environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives.

Through this collaboration, young communicators will take part in projects at the intersection of sports and environmental awareness, helping them build professional experience while generating societal impact.

The International Arena AquaChallenge Open Water Swimming Championships is not only one of Türkiye’s leading events in its field but also one of the prominent global open water swimming organizations. Beyond the competitive aspect, it hosts initiatives that highlight social benefit and environmental consciousness.

As part of this partnership, students from Yeditepe University’s Faculty of Communication will actively contribute to AquaChallenge’s media, promotion, and public relations efforts. They will also develop projects centered on marine conservation, sustainability, and social benefit.

Students from Five Departments to Take Part in the Projects

Bringing together education, sports, and social responsibility, the collaboration includes students from the Faculty of Communication’s Public Relations and Publicity, Advertising Design and Communication, Radio Television and Cinema, Visual Communication Design, and Journalism departments.

Working alongside leading brands in Türkiye, young communicators will strengthen their career journeys and participate in communication projects that create value for society.

Corporate communication executives will evaluate the projects, and successful work will be featured through AquaChallenge’s communication channels.

Students taking part in the projects will gain practical experience and strengthen their portfolios.

Among these projects are marine conservation campaigns carried out in cooperation with “TURMEPA”, “Deniz Temiz Derneği”, the SKODA AquaUni Project, which brings universities together, and the AquaKids initiative.

Creating Impact for the Future Through the Unifying Power of Sports

Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Durman highlighted the educational and social significance of the partnership, stating:

“This collaboration enables our students to develop their communication skills through real projects while strengthening their environmental awareness and sense of social responsibility. I find it highly valuable that our young people contribute to a sustainable future through the unifying power of sports.”

Selçuk Demirel, Chair of the AquaChallenge Board of Directors, added:

“This partnership with Yeditepe University creates a strong platform where the energy of young people meets sports, the environment, and communication. Our goal is to help make sports a lifestyle while also creating value for society.”

The collaboration between Yeditepe University and AquaChallenge aims to provide university students with professional experience and establish an exemplary model of education and social contribution in the fields of sports, environmental awareness, and sustainability.
