In this direction, I started a double major programme with the PDR department. I and many of my friends had the chance to double major with different departments, and in the same way, my friends from different departments were able to join the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling and embark on a very enjoyable journey. It was also a social journey with Erasmus, club activities, internship experiences and its effects are still continuing. With the guidance and support of the valuable professors of our Faculty of Education, we all discovered our potentials. Many of my fellow graduates started to work in schools, clinics, private sector and the state and started to build our future in the light of the knowledge we learned. After I started the double major programme with the Department of Psychology in my 2nd year in the department, I started to see the differences between an applied and theoretical field more clearly. Thanks to the applied courses such as Counselling with Individuals and Career Counselling that I took in the Department of Psychological Counselling, I went beyond theoretical knowledge and experienced a small simulation of my future. With the competent teaching staff of our department both in the field of education and in the field of psychological counselling, I now see myself as someone who is ready and competent in the field. Most importantly, the academics of the Department of Counselling and Psychological Counselling are supportive of my extracurricular activities and provide the necessary flexibility despite the intensity of the double major programme and internship programmes. In addition to the practical education, the view of the special education system was the biggest factor in my choice of Yeditepe. Being aware that differences are our richness, we receive a multifaceted, research and practice-based education. In addition, we learn about the special education system from a much wider perspective, not limited to our country, and as teacher candidates, we have the opportunity to develop in many ways thanks to the experience of our professors in different fields. It is vital for me that Yeditepe’s philosophy is active participation to research. Our academics pay attention to their students individually and by raising us as global teacgers, they enable us not only to be more qualified teachers, but also take our abilities to the next step and develop academically. Our department also enables us to learn about the techniques in developed countries and work according to those systems. Also, we learn about the international laws and develop projects with all that information. These projects are towards the contemporary requirements. Thus, all of us develop our researching and problem-solving skills. Bilgenur Ergül 3rd Year Student Betül Ünal 3rd Year Student 241 Student Comments
