Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences 25 Pilotage Master ' s Program With the rapid development of the aviation industry and the increasing popularity of plane travel, we will need a significant number of airline pilots in our country in the coming years. Even if the existing pilot demand is supplied by foreign pilots, it is increasingly difficult for foreign pilots to meet the demands of our country because of the increase in pilot demand in the Gulf countries. In addition, since the maximum annual flight times of pilots will decrease by the end of 2016, airlines will not be able to continue their flights with their existing pilots and will have to create additional staff. Yeditepe University has launched a Pilotage Master’s Program in cooperation with Atlasjet to help solve the upcoming pilot shortage problem. The Non-thesis Program, which will be conducted under the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, will provide basic theoretical courses and master's degree courses at Yeditepe University and theoretical courses and flight training at the Atlantic Flight Academy (AFA). The program will take place with the cooperation of Atlasjet, which is one of the two institutions authorized to provide airline transport pilot license (ATPL) and type rating training in our country, AFA and Yeditepe University. The program consists of 1100 hours of theoretical training, 220 hours of flight training, 120 hours of flight training courses, and 210 hours of a second foreign language besides English on request. Within the scope of the current Pilotage Master’s Program, students will be given flight training for a Private Pilot license and Commercial Pilot license, as well as multi-pilot team flights will be made and training for jet aircraft will be provided. ATPL and type rating trainings are outside the current program. Unless students leave their flight training due to health or other reasons and have taken the type rating training from Atlasjet, we expect Pilotage Master’s Program graduates to be recruited by the same company.
