Faculty of Medicine 2020

Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine enables its students to follow the developments abroad with its education provided in English. So, it raises contemporary doctors. During the years I spent at the university, in order to become a contemporary doctor, I had summer internships at First Pavlov Medical University Hospital in St. Petersburg, Russia, as well as Heidelberg University in Germany. I have spent two months of my intern year at the Bern University Hospital in Switzerland as a surgery intern. These opportunities were provided with the foreign language options provided by Yeditepe, especially the French and Russian courses I have attended, the contributions of our faculty to international medical clubs and, naturally, the unlimited support of our academics. As themediumof instruction in our school was English and thanks to the importance o f scientific competence in our curriculum, we are able to follow scientific efforts in the early stages of our career and we benefit greatly from it. Thanks to this, we are able to graduate as contemporary medical professionals. With its support to club activities, our faculty contributes to us by having us participate extracurricular activities and develop ourselves as good doctors in every aspect. Also, thanks to the accreditations of our university, we are able to achieve specializations abroad. I was able to have my summer internship at Helmholtz Zentrum, Munich, a research center in Germany, thanks to the advice of my academics. With a scientific presentation that I have prepared during my internship, I was awarded the best oral presentation award. The accessibility and guidance of my academics have contributed greatly to me in earning this vision. Deren Esencan 3 rd Year Student =IPM^ =EROS˓PY 2020 Alumn We witness very rapid changes in our lives. The faster our daily life and environment change, the faster our health status and current health services are delivered. In today’s medical faculties, we have to train physicians ready for health services that will have very different practices and standards in the near future. We all work for Medical Faculties that aim for raising well-educated individuals who are experts in fields within the rapidly growing science of medicine such as artificial intelligence, tissue engineering, from genetic diagnostics and treatments to advanced robotic applications; as well as who internalized the increasingly important humanist aspect, health advocacy, evidence-based medicine and preventive medicine, primarily in the Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine. The recent Covid-19 pandemic, which made every industry to undergo drastic and mostly permanent changes, also showed us how high is the need for adaptation in the education of Medicine. By adapting to the distance education models within this new normal period as Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine, we have proven how open and ready we are for any innovation by enabling our students to continue their education without a pause and without sacrificing the educational goals.
