I chose the Department of Material Science and Nanotechnology Engineering since I can both learn the fundamentals of material science, and nanotechnology at the same time. While I was having my undergraduate courses, I was able to participate in our academics’ research projects. I completed my internship in TÜBİTAK MAM (Material Research Center), and I worked on a project regarding graphene and composite materials in Kordsa Composite Technologies Excellence Center. I also conducted my longterm internship at an automotive subsidiary company’s R%D department, conducting characterization tests of polymer materials. Following my graduation, I started my Master’s education in the same department on biochips. Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering is a versatile department based on physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and engineering principles. I chose this department because I think that it will guide me on the way to becoming a well-equipped engineer by adding multidimensional and interdisciplinary thinking skills, which are the necessities of our age. Through various research projects that I had the chance to be involved in during my undergraduate education, I had the opportunity to put the knowledge I gained into practice and expand my knowledge. For this reason, I believe that every open-minded candidate who is interested in science and engineering, eager to develop new technologies, can find a good place for himself in many various fields such as defence, energy, biomedical and space after graduating from this department.
