282 Mainly science and academic English courses are given. In the first semester, students are introduced to the Mechanical Engineering Introduction course where the subfields of Mechanical Engineering as well as awareness on contemporary issues, ethics and some current issues are taught and in the second semester a project-based technical drawing course is introduced which explains the technical drawing language. Statics, Dynamics, Strength, Solid Mechanics Laboratory and Thermodynamics are offered. In addition to this, basic courses such as Materials Science, Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations are included in the program. In the third year, when vocational courses are predominant, students receive extensive study in the main subfields of Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Elements, Manufacturing Processes, Heat Transfer; and System Dynamics and Control. In many of these courses, the laboratory component is available as a separate course or as a component of the course. It consists of technical elective courses and project courses. In the first semester, students take Mechanical Vibrations, Instrumentation and Experimental Design and Thermal System Design as well as two technical elective courses. In the second semester, two technical elective courses, Mechanical Systems Design course and Engineering Project (dissertation) are given. The main design experience, which is an important component of Mechanical Engineering education, is given to the students through the projects carried out in Thermal System Design and Mechanical Systems Design courses.
