Faculty of Engineering

266 Food Engineering In addition to basic science courses such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, there are Introduction to Food Engineering courses that introduce food engineering, the food system and its stakeholders, the methods and skills that students should use to follow and evaluate current issues in the field of food, and Social Responsibility Project courses that aim to improve their reading, writing and self-expression skills on ethical issues and to enable them to think critically and analytically on these issues. In addition to applied courses such as Food Chemistry, Introduction to Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Food Analysis Laboratory and Food Process Engineering I course, which forms the basis of food engineering, the Sustainable Food Systems course, in which the sustainability focus of the department is transferred with a food system approach, is given. In this year, where vocational courses are predominant, students take courses such as Food Formulation Engineering, Food Process Engineering II, Statistical Quality Control in Food Industry, Kinetics of Food Reactions and Shelf Life, Food Engineering Fundamentals and Process Design, as well as Food Safety and Risk Assessment, Nutrition and Health courses that enable the evaluation of health and food safety goals. Students complete a summer internship at the end of this year. In this way, they can learn new practical and technical skills in different domestic or foreign institutions and organisations, get to know business life, and learn to communicate effectively with other disciplines and managers. In addition to technical and free elective courses, innovation and designoriented courses such as Food Innovation and Design, Digital Innovation in the Food System and Engineering Project, Food Technology and Food Quality Control Systems courses are offered. YEAR YEAR YEAR YEAR Academic Education Year by Year With the Engineering Project course, it is aimed for our students to gain the ability to develop and execute a design or research project to produce solutions to the problems of the age by applying the knowledge and skills they have gained during their undergraduate education, and to analyse, report and present the results effectively.
