Attaching importance to field research in information production, the Department of Sociology encourages students to take part in research during their undergraduate years and to conduct their own research in their study areas. Our department became a partner of the PARTISPACE research project (www.partispace.eu) under the European Union Horizon 2020 between 2015 and 2018 and project partner of Erasmus PARTUBRIDGES (www.partibridges. eu) afterwards. Our department also has FEDEK accreditation. RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE The Department of History aims to raise students who have a vast understanding of human sciences, who are equipped with various foreign languages, are inquisitive and questioning. With its experienced, objective academic staff who have embraced the science of history and its ethics, our department is active in the world’s historical discussions as one of the leading departments in Turkey. Our students also have the opportunity to meet with other researchers from Turkey and from other countries within the scope of History Seminars , which is held every term and they have the chance to benefit from their knowledge, too. HISTORY The Department of Turkish Language and Literature consists of two main areas: “Language” and “Literature”. Courses on language evaluate Turkish in stages by examining its historical background and interpreting it in the light of contemporary linguistic methods. Literature course is the product of a similar whole. In these courses the main areas of Classical Turkish Literature, New Turkish Literature and Folk Literature are discussed separately in line with the traditional approach. Our original understanding of education is structured in three categories as ‘compulsory courses’, ’area electives’ and ‘free electives’. Our students can also take Pedagogical Certification courses for teaching during four years of education. TURKISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE Our department aims to enable students to speak Russian at an advanced level and to learn Russian literature and culture well. Our students are able to synthesize the basis of Russian philology with the values of world literature and contemporary art, and they can improve their Russian acquisitions to the level that they can actively use in their professional lives with the written / oral translation module, and reinforce these with their specific field knowledge.
