Yeditepe University Successful at Sports

 

Apart from with its achievements in the academic field, Yeditepe University is continuing to lead in achievements in the field of sports as well!

Yeditepe University, the champion in "Women’s Swimming” and "Women’s Skiing" at the Koç Sports Fest, known as the "Festival of Champions", won more than 100 medals at home and abroad throughout the year. The Yeditepe University Sports Teams, who continued to work under the leadership of Yeditepe University Culture and Sports Manager Taner Karabulut, won many medals by winning many championships during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Yeditepe University, which holds the title of being the university who has participated in the highest number of competitions in the past five years according to data from the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) Journal in 2015, has competed in a total of 24 branches with 39 teams in this academic year.

This year, Yeditepe University has also made an impression at Koç Fest University Sports Games, which is known as the "Festival of Champions". The finals of Koç Sports Fest in Denizli, where 26 thousand athletes compete in 57 events, took place with the participation of 5 thousand athletes, managers, referees and coaches.

 

 

A total of 62 medals at Koç Fest

Together with the flag races, Yeditepe University received 28 first places, 20 second places and 13 third places at the Koç Fest Turkey Universities Swimming Championship, which was held between 9-11 May. Coming third at the Athletics 110 Meters hurdle race branch, Yeditepe University became the university to win the highest number of medals at Koç Fest, with a total of 62 medals. In terms of the teams, the Yeditepe University Women's Swimming Team won the Turkey championship with 15,346 points and the Men's Swimming Team came second with 14,450 points.

Champions in Skiing and Snowboarding as well

At Turkish Ski and Snowboarding Championships In the 2016-2017 term, the Yeditepe University Skiing-Snowboarding Team received 11 medals in total, 2 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals as individuals and 4 cups in total with 2 championships, 1 second, 1 third cup as a team.

Historic Success at the 3rd European University Games

Yeditepe University has achieved a historic success at the 3rd European University Games taking place between 10-26 July 2016 in the cities of Zagreb and Rijeka, Croatia. Among the 200 universities from 35 countries, Yeditepe University came second after Zagreb University in the medals ranking. In these games, Yeditepe University with a total of 22 medals (11 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze) helped  Turkey, with 47 medals, come in third place among 35 countries after Croatia and Germany.

At the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games organized in Azerbaijan between May 12-22, Yeditepe University contributed with 4 first places, two second places and one third place to the 195 medals won by Turkey, who participated with a total of 339 athletes.

 

Yeditepe University Founding President Bedrettin Dalan, Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl, Yeditepe University Advisor to the Founding President Dr. Sedefhan Oguz, Yeditepe University Culture and Sports Manager Taner Karabulut, and Yeditepe University Handball Coach Vahit Zorlu attended a dinner and conveyed congratulations to athletes. The management, thanking each athlete individually, took a souvenir photo together.
